Incarcerated men are provided with a wide variety of cognitive behavioral, educational, vocational, substance abuse, and life-skills courses that help reduce recidivism.MTC Medical and the North Central Correctional Complex are seeking a full time mid-level (NP or PA) for our healthcare team in Marion. In this role, the mid-level will be responsible for providing clinical care of specific patients under the direction of the physician. Ideal candidate will have a couple years' clinical experience with some supervisory background

Some of the Essential Functions:

  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as required and adjust treatment processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Perform CPR when necessary.

  • Monitor medical condition of patients and report and document changes appropriate to scope of practice.

  • Diagnose and treat patients appropriately, exercising independent judgment, initiating an effective course of action.

  • Perform daily information rounds and prepare notes on inmates assigned to medical housing.

  • Perform basic procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of dressings and casts.

  • Order diagnostic and therapeutic services and assess efficiency, documenting results and making needed changes.

  • Consult with facility medical director in a collaborative and cooperative relationship.

This is an ambulatory setting but you will see a far wider variety of cases than you might see in a clinical setting. The patients, some of whom haven't ever had medical care, are more appreciative than your average patient and are usually far more compliant in following medical advice. You will enjoy a set schedule, more autonomy and will serve as an example for those who are trying to improve their lives.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Completion of an accredited physician’s assistant program and a current license or completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Nurse program and a current license is required. Current DEA registration unless state practice regulations permit other prescribing arrangements under supervision. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be current and renewed every two (2) years unless otherwise directed by Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) directives. Valid driver’s license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements. Occasional travel.
