Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in designated area(s) of instruction that leads to high center performance.
Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, career technical training, personal concerns or study habits.
Coordinate with CTT instructors, counselors, residential advisors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
Develop and prepare lessons in coordination with designated CTT instructors; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
Assist in ensuring that OMS performance standards meet or exceed the standards of DOL and MTC; utilize CIS and CTS reports to monitor and enhance student and program progress.
Participate on student evaluation panels.
Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
Control use of equipment and supplies; submit work requests; recommend purchases.
Develop and conduct enrichment programs as assigned.
Assist in developing community linkages and volunteers for the academics programs department.
Under the direction of academic programs manager, responsible for curriculum and lesson plan development and updates necessary to link subject matter to employability skills and developing linkages between classroom instruction and career technical training.
Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff and other center customers.
Participate in student employability programs and activities.
Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and valid teaching certificate in the state of employment required. One year instructional experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
