Position Summary:Reports to the assistant warden. Supervises the case managers, officer interviewer, officer photo & id, records clerks and count room clerks. Responsible for the management of counseling services, wich includes case management and reception/discharge procedures in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.Essential Functions:1. Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the department.2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the assistant warden, programs and coordinated with the human resources supervisor prior to implementation.3. Assist the assistant warden in the preparation of the departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures.4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting classification.5. Develop and implement and effective classification program. Take appropriate steps to ensure that administrative procedures are followed, such as adequate record keeping, maintenance of schedules, etc.6. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.7. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's Degree from a college or University accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in a Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred. Three (3) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody, law enforcement, Offender case management, or correctional unit operations experience. One (1) year full-time, wage-earning Offender classification experience. Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
