Reports to the manager, community living & support. Responsible for residential activities within the dormitory providing for maximum program coordination, student discipline, attractive and well maintained dormitory environment, and preparation of records and reports, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor and control dormitory conditions; evaluate situations and conditions within the dormitories and make decisions or recommendations to residential coordinator.

  • Provide input to supervision regarding the performance of residential advisors assigned to dormitory.

  • Perform administrative duties involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, and terminations.

  • Perform residential advisor functions as necessary to ensure safety and proper student behavior in the dormitories.

  • Communicate with families of students by mail and phone as required to resolve problems and assure the well‑being of students.

  • Coordinate activities of dormitory including recreation and entertainment on and off center, extended day learning activities, and the dorm courts program.

  • Maintain an attractive and clean dormitory environment; inspect dormitory areas; recommend facility maintenance work where needed; direct and ensure dorm patrol and daily cleanup and maintenance.

  • Clean and maintain dormitory.

  • Requisition supplies to meet needs for dorm living and safety of students.

  • Determine, recommend and arrange student visits to counselor; review problems related to assigned students with counselors in weekly team meetings.

  • As assigned, participate in and conduct career preparation activities in accordance with the schedule.

  • Participate in retention plans and programs.

  • Perform all duties ascribed to residential advisor.

  • Assist in transporting students to activities.

  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.

  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.

  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED and two years experience working with youth. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
